Just come across this wonderful automatic gel electrophoresis machine from Qiagen, it only takes 5-10 minutes to obtain results compared to manual gel electrophoresis which takes about 2 hours per gel...OMFG... see how big is the different?! the generated DNA bands are better than manual gel electrophoresis too.

Remote support in easy way
First, both parties must download this free software called TeamViewer at HERE.
After download, extract the files.
Both parties now run the TeamViewer.exe.
Then, the person who encountered computer problems can now tell the temporary ID and password to the Helper.
For the Helper, under "CREATE SESSION", select "remote support" and key in the ID given. Press 'connect to partner' button. And enter the password given when prompted.
When the connection is established, a window will pop up which allowed the Helper to view the person desktop screen, and also granted keyboard and mouse control permission to solve computer problems.
Note: you can simply cut the connection anytime if found the Helper doing irrelevant stuff to your computer. =)

DNA Extraction
Steps of DNA extraction:
01)Rinse mouth with clean water, then gargle with 10mL saline for 3 mins.
02)Transfer the saline with buccal cells into 15mL falcon tube.
03)Centrifuge at 4000rpm, 5 mins, 37'C.
04)Remove supernatant till last drop.
05)Add in 500uL PBS solution and transfer to a 1.5mL microcentrifuge tube.
06)Centrifuge at 5000rpm, 1 min.
07)Remove supernatant carefully.
08)Add in 300uL Nuclei Lysis Buffer, pipette few times to lyse the bucaal cells.
09)Add in 1.5uL RNAse, and inverse the tube gently few times.
10)Incubate at 37'C for 15 mins.
11)Cool to room temperature.
12)Add in 100uL of Protein Precipitate Solution, and vortex vigorously for 20 secs.
13)Centrifuge at 13000rpm, 5 mins.
14)Transfer the supernatant by using a pipette, into a new 1.5mL microcentrifuge tube contained 300uL of Isopropanol.
15)Inverse the tube gently for 3-5 minutes, until the white mass (DNA pellet) is precipitated enough.
16)Centrifuge at 13000rpm, 5 mins.
17)Remove supernatant, and add in 500uL of 70% Absolute Etanol.
18)Inverse gently for few times to wash the DNA pellet.
19)Centrifuge at 13000rpm, 10 mins.
20)Remove the supernatant and air-dry for 10-15 mins.
21)Add in 50uL DNA rehydration buffer and keep in 4'C.

Simple updates of my life
Final year project
Just settled my final year project preparation. I have thress personal pipettes, cool huh~... The lab cabinet I'm using now actually is belong to a senior, but according to my supervisor and the lab manager, the senior has gave up his project and did not shown up for lab work for quite a long time. He already failed his project B once, but still showing this kind of attitude, what a shame for him as a University student. Currently, I'm excited on my final year project.
Volleyball
Lately, my performance in volleyball is really bad, I did not touch vb since the MAPCU volleyball competition. Sigh, need to train more to brush up my vb skill.
Inter-faculty Sports Carnival 2009
Still under planning period, still haven't get black and white agreement from UCSI for the sponsorship of the events. Sigh.
